I've included the banner and background in case you want to load them to your own account. You don't have to, though. It's up to you. If you do want to use your own account, be sure to change the link in the css code pointing to my photobucket account. You'll find it usually in 2 places: the top of the code within the 'background' tag, or wherever there's a '.header' tag, sometimes all the way at the bottom of the code. Either way, it's fairly easy to find because it has the art title in the link.


1) Go to your customize page (http://www.livejournal.com/customize).
2) Select a new theme - Smooth Sailing. You can use any of them listed. These are the basic structures of the journal, not the design, so you just have to make sure you choose the right 'framework'. Click on the 'Apply theme' button.
3) Scroll down and choose a page setup - Set to sidebar on left.
4) Hit the 'customize selected theme' button. (if you have a free account, set your ads to 'between entries')
5) Important!! You have to add your own navigation as a sidebar box. Click on 'sidebar' and scroll down to a free text box. Set its position to 1 and paste this code into it, replacing 'username' with your username:

Be sure the month position is set to '2'.


6) Once you make any special changes you want in your sidebar, links, etc., go to 'Custom CSS'. Set the pulldown boxes to 'no', copy the css code from the zip file and paste it into >> Custom stylesheet << box. Save changes. 


7) A link back to my and the layout designer's journal please! Go to your profile, and in the bio section paste:
